Bioidentical Hormones Explained

Bioidentical Hormones

Bioidentical hormones… What are they?? A bioidentical hormone is one that is biologically identical to what your body makes. It can be made from a plant source and still be biologically identical.

Why is this important? Well, your body’s hormones are basically chemical messengers and they operate by binding to receptors in order to create the desired response (like a lock and key system). If a hormone is biologically identical to what your body naturally makes, then that hormone will work the same as the one your body makes.

On the other hand, if a hormone is not biologically identical then there is the potential that it won’t fit the lock/key system correctly. Your body could then misinterpret what is to be done as a result of the hormone created message, and you could end up with problems.
