Dr. Laurie Blanscet is a board certified Family Physician who has always had a great interest in preventive medicine. When she started her private practice in 1999, she attempted to practice preventive, holistic medicine in a traditional insurance based practice but sadly she found that it was too difficult within the confines of insurances. In her efforts to provide quality care to her patients, she found herself working longer and longer hours. Insurances do not value time spent with patients preventing illnesses and they barely allow enough time to treat illnesses adequately.
She refused to offer poor quality health care and was dedicated to her patient care. This was unsustainable within the broken health care system, something unfortunately had to give. In the broken system of health insurance (should be named “disease insurance”), typically either the patient care suffers, the doctor suffers, or they both suffer.
Dr. Blanscet would not allow for her patients to suffer, and as a result, her health suffered. She worked through a ruptured appendicitis that by some miracle, was healed by her body without surgery. She knew something wasn’t right, but couldn’t take the time to properly care for herself under the health insurance system, or else her patient care would suffer. At a later point in time, she ended up needing a hysterectomy. During that surgery, the doctors discovered the mess within her abdomen and attempted to fix it. Unfortunately her bowel was nicked and this led to a series of complications too numerous to mention.

After a total of 40 days in the hospital, luckily Dr. Blanscet survived her medical nightmare. Since she had to recover from the physical trauma to her body and she was also thrown into menopause before the age of 40, she needed to first heal herself before she could help others in the way that she wanted to help them. Dr. Blanscet went “back to school” with A4M, becoming fellowship trained, learning about anti-aging medicine, including bio-identical hormone replacement. She has since had extensive training in preventive, integrative medicine and continues to attend educational courses on a regular basis.
Dr. Blanscet’s personal medical experience made her realize that something had to change. There had to be a way to provide excellent medical care to patients without killing the doctor in the process. She completely transformed her medical practice into a wellness focused practice-offering bio-identical hormone balancing, concierge medicine, ozone therapy, etc. In order to effectively help her patients and maintain her health, she chose to stay away from health insurances and offer direct care (patients pay directly, health insurance is not used). This way, she can focus on what her patients truly need and customize their treatment plan for optimal health.
Dr. Blanscet focuses on the whole body. She looks at hormone levels, nutrition, sleep, exercise, mindset, toxin exposure, etc when she treats her patients. She also utilizes what she has learned on herself and as a result, she feels better now than when she was in her 30’s. She believes that we should all be able to live a vital, healthy life and not deteriorate for years before we leave our physical body. Aside from loving what she does each day to help patients achieve optimum health, she enjoys spending time with her husband of 30+ years, traveling, scuba diving, yoga and reading.
